Join us as an Associate Director, Business Insights, where insight meets impact. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development of a forward-looking intelligence capability that empowers TRD Biologics & CGT to anticipate external trends, identify opportunities, and make informed decisions. You’ll translate scientific, technical, and industry signals into actionable insights, integrate external benchmarking with internal analytics, and drive strategic direction, technology investments, and non-drug initiatives through a dedicated governance framework.
About the Role
Key responsibilities:
- Lead horizon scanning and scenario planning in collaboration with internal teams to anticipate trends in TRD Biologics & CGT, portfolios and technical innovation.
- Translate complex scientific and technical signals into strategic narratives for leadership and scientific and technical communities.
- Integrate external benchmarking with internal analytics to shape priorities and identify capability gaps.
- Establish and operationalize a governance framework to connect insights to strategic actions.
- Deliver intelligence to guide non-drug portfolio planning, innovation enablement, and investment prioritization.
- Coordinate internal engagement and impact tracking from major industry consortia collaborations.
- Design governance models for knowledge capture from external engagements and conferences.
- Develop and manage internal knowledge-sharing strategies, including communication channels and feedback loops.
- Create high-impact materials and engagement plans to disseminate insights across TRD Biologics & CGT.
- Foster a Community of Practice to connect disciplines and geographies through collaborative learning.
Essential Requirements:
- Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MSc, or MBA) in Life Sciences, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical development or related industrial areas.
- 8+ years in competitive intelligence, strategic insights, or portfolio strategy within biopharma.
- Deep understanding of Biologics and CGT development, regulatory landscape, and commercialization.
- Strong analytical and storytelling skills with a proactive approach to execution.
- Proven ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that influence strategy.
- Experience working independently and collaboratively in cross-functional, matrixed environments.
- Strategic thinker with operational agility and ability to balance vision with delivery.
- Excellent communication skills to simplify complex scientific and technical topics.
- Familiarity with digital tools, data visualization, and insight generation methodologies.
Novartis Austria is one of the most modern and innovative manufacturing sites in the Novartis network. The sites in Tirol have approximately 3,500 employees and there are approximately 350 employees in the marketing & sales office in Vienna.
The site in Tirol is in the middle of the Austrian Alps with excellent infrastructure.

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 78.383,90/year (on a full-time basis). The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.
